RunCzech Racing Team has another reason to celebrate! Two members of this elite running team, Damián Vích and Martin Zajíc, showed exceptional results at a prestigious running race in Spain.
Damián Vích, a twenty-six-year-old talent under the guidance of coach Hakim Saleh, pushed the boundaries of Czech athletics when he broke the Czech 10km course record in Valencia on 12 January 2025. With a time of 28:21, he improved Michal Kučera’s existing record from 1995 by a full 5 seconds. This performance not only puts Damián among the elite of European running, but also secured his qualification for the European Road Running Championships, which will be held in Brussels in April
“I ran the race with courage, but I was practically running in a big group of runners the whole time, which helped me to perform like this. I really appreciate the time and it motivates me to work hard to be even better,” commented Damián Vích on the race.
Together with him, Martin Zajíc secured the European limit earlier on the half marathon course (also in Valencia). He ran Sunday’s 10km race in 29:24, 8 seconds below his personal best. Both runners are an important part of the RunCzech Racing Team, led by the legendary Eva Vrabcová Nývltová – the recently broken Czech marathon record holder and five-time Olympic Games participant.
