The European half marathon record holder, Swiss long-distance runner Julien Wanders, is returning to the prestigious Napoli City Half Marathon, which will be held on Sunday, 23 February.
Julien Wanders is an elite long-distance runner who holds the European record for the half marathon with a time of 59:13. He previously also held the European record for 10 km, with a time of 27:13. In 2022, Wanders delivered an impressive performance in Naples, finishing in 1:00:28, but this time he returns with even higher ambitions.
He has been training intensively in Kenya, aiming to reach the top level once again. Regarding his participation at the Napoli City Half Marathon 2025, Julien Wanders stated: “I have fond memories of Naples. This race holds a special place in my heart, and I see it as a crucial step in my journey back to the world’s top level. I am excited to return and will give my best performance.”
Napoli City Half Marathon: A Fast Course with Stunning Views
Organized by Napoli Running, the Napoli City Half Marathon traditionally opens the RunCzech running season and is known for its fast and flat course, which runs along the Gulf of Naples with breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius. Thanks to its record-breaking course, where both the men’s and women’s Italian national records have been set, Naples has established itself as Italy’s “capital city of half-marathon”, which attracts many international runners every year.

- Sport Expo – Friday, February 21 – Saturday, February 22: A rich accompanying program for the entire community of Italian and foreign runners, families and friends.
- Family Run & Friends – Saturday, February 22: A non-competitive 2 km run for all age groups. Participants receive a medal, a T-shirt, and refreshments, with free entry for children under 10.
- Napoli City Half Marathon – Sunday, February 23: The main race featuring a flat and fast course, perfect for achieving personal bests.
- Charity Relay Program – An option for runners to split the half marathon distance with a partner.
