Favourites of the Mattoni Karlovy Vary Half Marathon are Vrabcová-Nývltová and Pavlišta. Acrobatic aviator Kopfstein and volleyball champion Hudeček will run too.
One of the most beautiful Czech running races Mattoni Karlovy Vary Half Marathon takes place already tomorrow. Vít Pavlišta and Eva Vrabcová-Nývltová are top favourites for victory. One of the world´s best aerial acrobats Petr Kopfstein and the manager of the Karlovarsko team Ondřej Hudeček, who recently won the volleyball extra-league, will also stand at the start line. "I would like to say that Karlovy Vary is the smallest city in the world that has a European Athletics Five Stars Certificate, which is the biggest possible award from European Athletics. And this is the RunCzech standard. I hope that all runners will enjoy the race as much as they can," said RunCzech Regional Race Manager Igor Murko.
The extraordinary atmosphere of the spa town will once again enchant thousands of runners from the Czech Republic and abroad. The 9th edition of the race will start from the nábřeží Osvobození on Saturday at 6 p.m. The picturesque course will traditionally lead along the Teplá River and the spa colonnade or pass the world-famous Thermal and Pupp hotels.
Nearly four thousand competitors will take on to the 21.0975 km long course, among them the local favourites Eva Vrabcová-Nývltová and Vít Pavlišta. "I would be happy with the finish time of one hour and seven minutes. I had a training break due to my injury, so I'm not setting a big goal," said Vít Pavlišta.
The acrobatic aviator Petr Kopfstein will appear at the start. "I love my hometown and running around the most beautiful places, even though I've seen them a thousand times, it will be an unforgettable experience during this occasion. Vary Half Marathon will enjoy the presence of Ondřej Hudeček, the manager of Karlovarsko, the newest champions of the volleyball extra-league. "I would like to finish the half marathon somewhere around an hour and 45 minutes. Mainly to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the race across the spa town," said Hudeček. There are still few last places for registration left. Runners can also register for the relay, 2Run or the dm Family Run. In addition to the race, fans can look forward to a wide range of accompanying program in front of the Thermal Hotel.
